Mujeres para la historia I

But not all women have been, were or are as lucky as Mrs. Robinson or Mrs. Pankhurst. There are still women today who suffer from discrimination, at home and in their work places and even in the streets. Women about whom you cannot read at web sites especially meant for them but whose lives are as heroic as those of Mary Robinson or Emmeline Pankhurst – if not more heroic than-

Let’s read about them here. The first text is one about the difficulties some women find to attend meetings or to fight for their rights; the second is a letter from a mother who, after having brought her children up, wants to go back to the labour market:

Si la pasamos a voz activa sería algo así: Their husbands had told them not to attend the meeting.

THRIVE= Prosperar, enriquecerse, florecer.

WHOLE = completo, total
